In-File Delta Process

In-File Delta allows us to reduce the amount of time and space required to perform daily, hourly or continuous backups. In-File Delta does this by examining each file being backed up and comparing the file to the last version that was backed up. Once this comparison is done, Data Lodge backs up only the pieces of the file that have changed since the last backup.

This is a major advancement that allows us to provide backup services to companies with large file stores and still provide the highest level of speed and service possible.

The newer Windows versions (Windows XP and newer) of Data Lodge use the Windows Shadow Copy service to build the backup sets.

Windows Shadow Copy allows Data Lodge to run backup jobs while many file types are still in use, providing an open-file backup solution to many of the file types backed up. Windows Shadow copy also allows Data Lodge to run in the background and use fewer system resources.
