We have been very active lately performing Data Recoveries for folks who don't subscribe to Data Lodge.  Let me explain how data is stored so you have a better understanding of the process of how we recover it.

Someone asked me about the security of their data when it goes to the Data Lodge servers.  They wanted to know how we ensure that they are the only one who has access to their data.  Well, it is a great question.  We actually do quite a bit to make sure your data is safe.

I ask myself this question and two things come to mind.

First, I remember the days when I did IT Consulting and Support. I would put data backup systems in place that would get used for the first week or the first month and then nobody would change the tape and the backups quickly became dated and useless. Well, one thing would lead to another and someone would delete some important files, or a hard drive would crash, or any number of things would lead to data loss. You see, it was my responsibility to put the backup solution in place but I could not get my clients to actually change their tapes or media. This is why I began offering Internet Backup Services. I could ensure that data was being backed up with no media changes required and no direct responsibilities left on the client. I slept better at night knowing that their data was protected without any human interaction required.
